The meaning of the Insightec Plus: Precision and Transformation

While a brand represents more than a logo, colors, and fonts, oftentimes it’s these very aspects that make a brand instantly recognizable. From the signature apple shape on every Apple® product, to the stylized “T” symbol representing the cross-section of an electric motor on every Tesla® vehicle, distinctive logos help companies gain recognition in their respective industries and communicate who they are as a company.

Insightec’s look has gone through several changes since our beginning. In our logo today, you’ll see a bright blue plus sign – have you ever wondered what the Insightec Plus represents?

The name “Insightec” is a play on words: “in sight” is what one can see, “insight” refers to knowledge and understanding of causes and effects, and “tec” refers to technology. In sight also refers to “in your sights,” or to identify and zero in on a target. A sight is where a horizontal and vertical line meet to focus on a target. This point of intersection creates a plus sign. An inflection point in time where who you were is transformed into who you can become.

The Insightec plus sign represents multiple targets, ranging from the physical and technical to symbolic, and the goals that we are laser-focused on achieving to deliver the therapeutic power of acoustic energy.

Focused Ultrasound technology differentiates itself from other forms of treatment as it is guided by MRI, allowing neurosurgeons to see and precisely focus sound waves on the small spot in the brain considered to be responsible for causing tremors in patients with Essential Tremor (ET), the Vim of the thalamus. During a focused ultrasound treatment, the treating physician sits at a computer in the MRI control room, using a computer mouse instead of scalpel. As the neurosurgeon zeroes in on the Vim of the thalamus, the computer mouse creates a plus sign on the screen.

Beyond signifying technical precision, the Insightec Plus also signifies a potential increased quality of life and new opportunities for those who receive MR-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) treatment. Essential Tremor may interfere with nearly every aspect of day-to-day life, which can lead to feelings of frustration, isolation, and embarrassment.
