Medicare coverage milestone

The news that focused ultrasound treatment for essential tremor is now covered by Medicare in all 50 states is a milestone for the company and important for people living with essential tremor.

In the world of medical devices, it can take years to get regulatory approval to be able to market and sell equipment to hospitals. But another challenge awaits after regulatory approval – obtaining insurance coverage to expand patient access to the treatment.

Technology may be life changing, but it doesn’t always immediately change lives. Over the last 18 months, our reimbursement team has been focused on lifting one of the barriers to treatment. On July 13, 2020, we announced that Medicare Part B beneficiaries in all 50 states have access to reimbursement for Insightec’s incisionless technology.
