Lifetime Achievement Award

The life science industry has strong ties to many communities in the U.S. as well as around the globe. The 21st Annual BioFlorida Conference made a connection from the Florida innovation hub across the ocean to Israel by recognizing Maurice R. Ferré, MD, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors at Insightec with the 2018 Lifetime Achievement Award this October.

This award recognizes the outstanding leadership of an individual who has significantly contributed to growth of the biotechnology, medical device or health IT industry. Throughout his career, Ferré has focused on impacting not only his local community in Florida but the world. His entrepreneurial spirit together with sharp business acumen has contributed to building companies with transformational medical technology. On a daily basis, he is working with innovative teams who have outstanding views of the Mediterranean ocean in the Haifa office as well as the breathtaking ones from the windows in Brickell.

“The Florida life sciences industry has brought forward some incredible innovations and I’m truly honored and humbled by this recognition,” said Ferré. “The future of medical technology is promising and I’m excited to help continue to drive progress forward, specifically in the focused ultrasound space.”

Ferré was one of only four recognized at this year’s conference, which gathers hundreds of leading executives, scientists, researchers, investors, legislators, and service providers from across the industry. Other awards included BioFlorida’s Leadership Award, Company of the Year Award and Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In addition, Ferré was featured on the event’s Founder and CEO panel where he was part of a group sharing insights on developing game-changing medical technologies and offering advice to up and coming entrepreneurs.
